Software Distribution
SCC CIS Department belongs to the Oracle Academic
Initiative and to the Microsoft MSDN
Academic Alliance. These two programs allow registered students in the
CIS Department the following software for use on your home machines. Contact
your CIS instructor to see if you are eligible for any of them.
CIS distributes this software free of charge,
through the Learning Resources Center (LRC). For each software product you
receive, we'll record your name and email address on the appropriate
distribution list, which we submit back to Oracle or Microsoft.
Send an email to your instructor requesting a
coupon and MSAA account for product key. Once your instructor has setup account
for you with Microsoft you will receive an email from elms_support@e-academy.com
with a hyperlink to the ELMS Web site. (See figure above) You should click on
the link, open a shopping cart, and add your products to the cart, select
"CD-Check out option" on selected product.?When you check out, you'll
receive the activation key. After you have received the activation key; obtain
a coupon from your instructor to check out the CD from LRC.

upon the CIS course you are taking along with whether or not product activation
key is required.

The software available under the MSDN AA agreement
must only be used for non-commercial purposes, including class assignments and
personal projects. You may not use the software for any for-profit software
development.

are no longer a registered student at SCC, you may no longer receive updates
for your personal-use computer. However, you may continue to use previously installed
software on your computer, provided you continue to follow the program
guidelines.

Telnet/SSH Client
PuTTY
is a free implementation of Telnet and SSH for Win32 and UNIX platforms, along
with an xterm terminal emulator.
A free program
from Microsoft that helps protect your computer
against pop-ups, slow performance, and security threats caused by spyware and
other unwanted software. It features Real-Time Protection, a monitoring system
that recommends actions against spyware when it's detected, and a new
streamlined interface that minimizes interruptions and helps you stay
productive.
